Meet the ALST Director:
Prof. Clarice Martin
"Remember that you can concentrate in ALST as a double major. In these critical days of economic globalization, world tensions, and increasing diversity within this nation, having a solid degree in ALST is a real bonus. Your awareness, empathy, and ability to understand and analyze the goings-on in the world will be enhanced. More importantly, you will be well on your way to becoming an informed and socially conscious citizen not only of the United States but also of the world. It is indeed a concentration that you can be proud of attaining. So drop by the ALST office and check us out. Our doors are always open and we would love to see you."

The Africana & Latin American Studies Program (ALST) at Colgate University is an interdisciplinary academic program. We offer major concentrations in African Studies and Latin American Studies, and minor concentrations in African Studies, African American Studies, Caribbean Studies, and Latin American Studies. Our Courses represent diverse disciplines. Our faculty are specialists in their subject areas, drawn from fields across the Colgate curriculum. We encourage students to contact faculty members whose interests they share. Periodically, ALST sponsors study groups in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean under the direction of faculty members associated with the ALST film series, cultural activities, and guest speakers.
We want you to know that you are welcome to ask questions. Come on over to Alumni 329, we are more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Or just contact us through e-mail or call us.
