Lunch Among the Ruins Series: Talking Archaeology at Colgate, 2003-2004 September 26, 2003: Barbara Giambastiani Bartlett, Director, Lorenzo Historic Site, speaking on "Historic Resource Management and the Preservation of the Cultural Landscape at Lorenzo" October 17, 2003: Professor Jordan Kerber, Seth Bidder '04, and Michael Wild '04, speaking on "Archaeology at an Iroquois Village Site by Colgate and Oneida Nation Students" November 14, 2003: Professor Susan Cerasano, speaking on "Getting Down and Dirty with Shakespeare's Theatre: London Theatre Excavations" Friday, March 5, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m.: Professor Thomas Crist, forensic anthropologist, and Assistant Professor, Program in Physical Therapy, Utica College, speaking on "The Human Skeleton in Archaeology and Forensic Science." Dr. Crist will speak on the human skeleton in the forensic context, and the bioarchaeological aspects of his recent research at St. Croix Island in Maine and at the Rhode Island burial grounds. Friday, April 16, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m.: Professor Jack Rossen, archaeologist, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Ithaca College, speaking on "New Vision Archaeology in the Cayuga Heartland." Dr. Rossen will discuss the development of a collaborative program of archaeology with the Cayuga Iroquois of New York. The research locale includes the Cayuga Land Claim area, situated along the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. Also discussed will be the recently formed non-profit organization SHARE (Strengthening Haudenosaunee American Relations through Education), a group of both non-Native and Native people working together at a 70-acre farm to provide a voice, educational center, and friendly locale in this land-claim region. Both slide-illustrated talks will be given in the ALANA Cultural Center seminar room, and lunch is provided.
