Olin Hall, located on the Colgate Quad, was opened  in 1970 using funds provided by the F.W Olin Foundation

A renovation of Olin Hall in 1989-90 resulted in an approximate doubling  of space available for the Biology Department

Each member of the faculty of the Biology Department has a laboratory in which they conduct research and guide student research projects.  Each lab provides a different research experience, so students can gain expertise in a variety of research subjects.

The Biology Department has 11 teaching labs in Olin Hall.  Courses rarely share labs within any one semester.  The large number of well-equipped teaching labs allows a great deal of flexibility in constructing elaborate laboratory experiences.  All laboratories are wired for campus network and Internet connections and 24 laptop computers (Windows and Macintosh) are devoted for use in student laboratories.
