ALUMNI NEWS NOTES

Gilman (Ozzie) Wales: Thanks for follow-up on my geology but only got interested in summer prospect with instructor John Sullivan suggesting glacial work in Rocky Mountains end of junior year. Pearl Harbor interrupted plans so signed up with marines instead in March '42. Summer '42 became first term senior year, fall was second term, graduating December 13. Reported to Parris Island December 22 with about 26 classmates. Okinawa took 100 days 4/1/45 to 7/10/45. Atomic bombs August 6 + 9 finally ended war and points got me home December '45. Guess foxhole digging suggested business rather than geology. (submitted 6/03)
