Jonathan Husch: Let's see, what's new to tell. I'm still doing research on the Mesozoic
diabases and basalts of Eastern North America, looking particularly at the relationships between
their timing of emplacement or eruption and their chemistry and structure. I'm also involved in
an environmental chemistry project dealing with the restoration of a small man-made lake here on
campus.
In other areas of my professional life, I'm still the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative at
Rider and that takes up a lot of my time. I'm also doing earth science curriculum development
at the K-12 level for some local school districts. Finally, I was included in the 2002 Edition
of Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
At home, my wife (25 years this October!), Gerri Hutner, is the Public Information Officer
for the West Windsor-Plainsboro School District. She loves to read and, as a result, appeared
as a guest on Oprah Winfrey's book club show last year. The book was Sula by Toni Morrison.
Gerri and I have two boys, Ben, 19, and Jared, 17. Ben is entering his sophomore year at
Wake Forest University. Jared is entering his senior year at Lawrence High School and is
thinking about attending the University of Richmond. I couldn't convince either one of them
to go to Colgate. Too cold. Oh well. (submitted 6/03)
Peter Michael: After several years at Columbia University in New York City, I spent one year at the Smithsonian and four years in Vancouver, BC as a postdoctoral research associate. In 1988, I moved to The University of Tulsa, a small private university with excellent students and faculty. I continue to mix teaching and research there. I am an igneous petrologist who concentrates on mid-ocean ridges and subduction zones. I am especially interested in H2O, CO2 and other volatiles in magmas. My wife Rebecca (Vassar, 1981) and children (Susanna, b.1989) and Jonathan (b. 1993) enjoy our annual road trips to the east coast. (submitted 9/9/06)
