Marc Arbeeny:
thanks to the skills learned with "Chief", Dr. Selleck, Dr. April, and Dr. McClennen;
understanding the charts and trends of the financial markets proved easy. I have since
left that world and I now live in the wonderful rugged environment of Durango CO. Thanks
to the 'rocks dept/Colgate '78' I can truly enjoy and undertstand this place!!

Linda Voltmann Swanson: Three years ago I quit teaching Geology as an adjunct
professor after 15 years at Jamestown Community College. I have been co-writing a
"Roadside Guide to Chautauqua County (NY)" with a colleague, a retired Biology professor.
We are self publishing the first volume this summer. We ended up including a lot of local
history, which has been educational but required quite a bit of research. Obviously we
are targeting a regional market, so it don't look for it on any national best seller lists!
On other news, our older child, Christine, just completed her freshman year at Colgate
and loved it. She is thinking of minoring in Physics and majoring in computer science,
but who knows what she will finally decide upon. As much as I try, I can't seem to get
her near the Geology Department! We also have a son, Peter, who will be a junior in High
School and is beginning his college search. (submitted 6/03)
