ALUMNI NEWS NOTES

Joan Bernhard: Science still keeps me busy (over the past couple years, I've had cruises off Venezuela, Baja, the Carolinas, California, in the Black Sea, and in the Gulf of Mexico, plus my ninth trip to do field work in the Antarctic). I am lucky enough to be funded by both NSF and NASA presently, and this year I received the W. Storrs Cole Memorial Research Award from the Geological Society of America for significant contributions to micropaleontology (even though I really do biology that has geological implications). Finally, there is a very good probability that I will be moving back north (finally) to a place where I have dreamed about working since I first saw it during one of our 1981 summer field excursions over 20 years ago.

I've had the pleasure of renewed correspondence with a number of rock heads over the past year or so (Sarah (Sally) Brown, Pete Hall, Al Rosensweig, Jane Kozinski, Jeff Killip) and I hope to continue to keep in touch even though I am a horrible correspondent sometimes!

Jeanne (Cunniff) Foussard: Very happy raising a family in the midwest with a fellow Colgate grad. Both kids have their own rock collections, complete with hammers and streak plates. The luggage gets pretty heavy on vacations. Doing well all around. (submitted 6/03)

Steve Malter: Married 6/12/93 to Chase Thompson, who has returned to college to finish her BA in elementary education. We are expecting our first child in January, 1996. Promoted 3/94 to Brokerage Manager for the Philadelphia General Agency of John Hancock Financial Services. Will complete Chartered Financial Consultant degree in August 1995 to complement Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Life Underwriter degrees. (submitted '96)

Ronald L. Parker: Kris and I had our 2nd son (William Wendell) in January. After 13 years in Vermont, I moved to Texas to pursue a PhD in environmental geochemistry at Texas A&M University. We bought our first house and, after all the mental gymnastics associated with moving 2000 miles, I find that the easiest part of it all is actually going back to classes. Our son Andrew, who is 2 years old, continues to flabbergast us by his command of language. Now that we have a big yard his energies have a container - a huge relief. To our surprise we all seem to like Texas. College Station really seems to have "it" all together. I will, however, welcome the time when I can again live in a place with hockey. I will be seeing some Colgaters at the National GA in New Orleans. I am still surrounded by Colgate ties - Bruce Herbert ('82) is across the hall; Rob Graham ('95) is in several classes with me and I am sitting on Stu Urban's ('82) chair. - Surrounded by redheads. Craig J. Peck: I live in Oklahoma City with my wife Susan (Univ. of Oklahoma '84). I formed Bridgeview Exploration in Jan., 1993. We have been doing E&P in Oklahoma. Lately, I have also been doing various consulting projects, focusing on Log Analysis for a major E&P company. (submitted '96)

Victoria Pursell: I took the severance package and left Exxon in August 1994, and then moved to Salt Lake City in December where my husband, David Katz, took a new job with NW Pipeline. I'm enjoying being a full-time mom to Stephen (2 1/2), and hiking and skiing (in winter) in the mountains. Come and visit! (submitted '96)
