ALUMNI NEWS NOTES
Class of 1990
Ellen Mecray: I'm working at a co-ed boarding school called the
Williston Northampton School. I teach 10-12 grade Chem. and I
also run the Middle School Macintosh computer Center. I guess
it's the norm in prep school life to do a lot more that teach...I
coached three seasons last year (field hockey, skiing, and
lacrosse) and lived in a dormitory with 30 girls! This year I
have moved to a smaller dormitory with 12 girls in it and I have
agreed to coach two seasons. Hey, I'm cutting my load....I'm not
running around like crazy...well, not right now, the kids arrive
tomorrow! I also do a capella singing group (like the "Gates)
for the upper school girls...it's a nice break from the routine. (submitted '96)
Andrew Gatt: In 2002 Hubbard Scientific published my book of aerial 3-D images of
geologically interesting locations. Features include, Meteor Crater, Mount Capulin, and
Mount Rainier. The book is called "The Earth in 3-D" and is marketed to Earth Science
teachers through science catalog companies such as Ward's, Carolina, and Frey Scientific.
In 2003, I completed my second book, also published by Hubbard Scientific, called "Elementary
Physical Science Activities." It is a book of 16 hands-on science activities for students
in grades 3-6. It will be in catalogs later this year.
I am finishing my seventh year as the lower school science specialist at Ravenscroft School
in Raleigh, North Carolina. My wife, Julia Tarasova (Duke '96) and I had our first child,
Daniel Peter Gatt, on March 27, 2003.(submitted 6/03)

going to a school of 42,000 is slightly different than going to
Colgate. Working on trace metals. (submitted '96)

done one "boon doggle" after another. Brazil - 1 week; Alaska -
1 month; Sweden - 1 week. Started work in August at Merrill
Lynch in investment banking (NYS). Got married in November to
Kristen Olson ('90). (submitted '96)
