The Robert M. Linsley Museum is dedicated to Professor Linsley who from 1955 to
1992 enraptured and inspired Colgate students with his love for geology and superb teaching.
Prior to his retirement, Professor Linsley specialized in teaching courses related to paleontology
and evolution,
and focused his research interests on the functional morphology, taxonomy and origin of gastropods.
Today, his enthusiastic teaching style, forever-present bottle of Coke and resounding laughter are
fondly remembered by his former students and colleagues.
