Colgate Quarry Exploration
with Professor Art Goldstein, Geology |
In the morning we went to the Bewkes Center with Prof. Art Goldstein. This is a quarry where we found rocks with fossils in them.
The rocks had shells, trilobites, and cephalopods preserved in them. Prof. Goldstein is a geologist and knows his rocks. He told us about how the rocks got there and how long ago they would have been around.

The Brain
with Professor Myra Smith, Psychology
After lunch we went to Prof. Myra Smiths room to play with different kinds of brains.
She had bat, snake, human, shark, fish, monkey, calf, cat, dog, and sheep brains.
Prof. Myra explained the functions of the brains and how they affect our movements and our daily interactions.
After she explained the brains we went around to each of the different kinds and touched them to give us more of an idea of what brains really are.
The brains were kind of squishy and smelled kind of funky and you got brain juice all over your hands.
