Colgate's Neuroscience Program was founded in 1972 and is one of the first two undergraduate programs in this field to be established in the United States. Today it continues to offer a unique and challenging academic experience.

Because of the rigor of the program, it attracts students who are highly motivated and committed; the spirit of inquiry which they bring to their studies contributes to cultivation of a stimulating learning environment. With the exception of the introductory course (Introduction to Brain and Behavior), which is required for the psychology as well as the neuroscience concentration, classes are small, and students can be assured of nurturing attention from their professors and camaraderie with their peers.
