Summer Research 1998

Recipients of summer research stipends in 1998 are pictured below:



Matt Sokol worked in Dr. Kraly's lab where he evaluated the ability of systemic histamine to modulate the effect of intragastric NaCl on drinking behavior in rats.




Mindy Hains and Melissa Russo worked with Dr. Yoshino to examine production of nitric oxide in mixed glial cultures. Working half-time in Dr. Yoshino's lab and the rest of the time with Chemistry Professor Dr. Gogel was Danielle Rottkamp (not pictured), who investigated cell cycle arrest an an inhibtor of glucose cerebroside synthesis.




Leslie Shupenko, under Dr. Smith's supervision, investigated whether the transfer of information between the cerebral hemispheres is less efficient in Alzheimer's patients than in normally aging adults.
