Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Parks

at Colgate since 1997

Associate Professor of Physics

Professor Parks studies condensed matter physics, using terahertz spectroscopy to learn about the properties of materials. She is currently using this technique to study energy levels of ferromagnetic molecular clusters, which are groups of atoms that together act as if they had a very large quantum mechanical spin. Other materials that may be studied in the future include semiconductor nanocrystals and superconductors.

Research Interests : Material Science, Time-Domain Terahertz Spectroscopy
