Home-made Counter
We made our own counters using a 6-digit decade counter LS7055 ($6) driving a set of six green seven-segment LED's ($5). The circuit for each counter is quite simple and straight-forward to implement. It takes a TTL input, and has options for counting for 1 or 5 s, and continuous counting (after pausing and resetting) or single-shot.
