Interlock Design
for Class IIIb Titanium-Saphire Laser

Abstract
A laser interlock was designed and constructed to reduce the risk of accidental injury to persons not trained as laser users. The interlock is designed so that a laser user can bypass the interlock and enter or exit the laboratory with the laser on, but a person not trained as a laser user will trip the interlock on entering the room. When the interlock is tripped, it will move a shutter to block the laser, preventing the non-user from being injured by the beam.
