"Acoustic Phonons in Superconducting Nanocrystals"
Jonathan O'Brien, Advisor: Dr. M. Elizabeth Parks
Acoustic phonons may be observed in the terahertz frequency egion via terahertz spectroscopy.
The frequency of optically-active vibrational modes of acoustic phonons in semiconducting
nanocrystals was determined as a function of the crystal size. This allows us to predict the
absorptions that will be observed in a nanocrystal sample.
