In a sample of different lipids, lipid rafts will form on the phospholipid bilayer. We do not currently have an understanding of the function of the rafts, or how they form. Using equilibrium surface pressure analysis, we study the lipid monolayer that lies at the surface of the sample to learn more about the bilayers in the sample.
