Internships
Many students say that the most rewarding aspect of their semester in Moscow was their internship. In an internship, a student can get valuable job experience while immersing himself or herself in the language and culture of the new Russia. Internships are tailored for the individual student's language level and interests. Below are just a few of the internships students have secured abroad:

Sophy
Georgieva researched and wrote short articles for the Moscow Times weekly
business digest. She wrote about apartment renovation companies, vegetarian
cafes, coffee houses and other misc. topics around Moscow.Laura Post, who started Russian in Vladimir, worked at American Councils: ACTR/ACCELS. Laura coordinated receipt of applications from students all over FSU to go on an exchange to the US. She met with them when they came to Moscow for interviews, set up parties for reunions of alumni from the program, and much more.
Christian Taggart, an economics major who started Russian in Vladimir, worked for Johnson and Johnson (Cilag AG International). He was responsible for gathering information on J & J products for sale in kiosks and stores all around Moscow, then collating and analyzing this data as part of a marketing analysis.
Students Courtney Genser and Curt Doten taught English classes to Chechen children at the Centre for Adaptation and Education of Children of Refugees and Forced Migrants.

Masha Fox translated documents on Russia's environmental situation into English
for the annually published volume Russia in the Surrounding World.
Jen Durgin and Amanda MacArthur taught English to Russian elementary school
students and gave a presentation on American education at a conference for
Russian teachers. Mike Hopkins and Cory Johnston worked for a Salvation
Army soup-kitchen. Lindsay Barton coached children's hockey and practiced
with the Russian women's national hockey team. Mike Remey worked for the Bloomberg News Group.
Noah Wintroub, Alison King, and Jack Bell interned at IBM Russia, where they did marketing and financial work and learned about how the financial world operates in Russia's emerging market.
Kevin Hart learned about how law firms operate in Russia. Nicole Sasso interned at the American Education Information Center.
Jackie Waite worked in an AIDS awareness program Steve LeBlanc worked for the American Center, where he helped Russian students who wanted to study in the
United States get information for and apply to universities here. He enjoyed working closely with Russian people
close to his own age, and learned a lot about Russian culture from them. Kate Hagglund worked with the American Council of Teachers of Russian.
Mark Hayes interned at the Moscow office of the Harvard Institute for International Development (HIID), where he helped Russian economists write usable English texts and assisted on a pollutant monitoring project.
